US President Donald Trump told his aides that he is willing to end US military action against Iran while the Strait of Hormuz remains largely closed, leaving the complex operation of reopening the strait for a later time, the Wall Street Journal reported.

This morning (31st), international oil prices mounted over 2%.

Trump and his aides reportedly assessed that attempts to reopen the strait would extend the conflict beyond the expected target by four to six weeks.

They believed that the US should prioritize weakening Iran's navy and missile reserves, easing current hostilities, and applying diplomatic pressure on Iran to resume free trade.

If these efforts fail, the US will urge European and Gulf allies to lead the reopening of the strait.
