Australia Announces Halving of Fuel and Diesel Excise to Counter Surging Oil Prices

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese stated that the government will halve the excise on fuel and diesel and remove the heavy road user charge for three months to help families cope with the cost surge wrought by the Iran war, according to foreign reports.

The price of fuel per liter will be reduced by AUD0.263. The Australian government expects the measures to involve an expenditure of AUD2.55 billion (USD1.75 billion).
