Fiber optic stock YOFC (06869.HK) eroded 6.7%, while power equipment stocks HARBIN ELECTRIC (01133.HK) and DONGFANG ELEC (01072.HK) dipped 6.5% and 7.6%. Automaker BYD COMPANY (01211.HK) added 1%. CHERY AUTO (09973.HK) announced a strategic deployment in controlled nuclear fusion, declaring its commitment to the R&D of 'artificial sun', boosting its stock price by 3.9%. Oil prices rose significantly, with PETROCHINA (00857.HK) and CNOOC (00883.HK) jumping up 2.4% and 4.5%. Oil equipment stock SHANDONG MOLONG (00568.HK) spiked 12.9%. Diminished expectations for US interest rate cuts affected commodities stocks. For gold miners, SD GOLD (01787.HK), ZHAOJIN MINING (01818.HK), ZIJIN GOLD INTL (02259.HK) and ZIJIN MINING (02899.HK) slumped 7.1-9.3%, while CHINAGOLDINTL (02099.HK) and LINGBAO GOLD (03330.HK) dipped 10.5% and 14.5%. Resources stocks MMG (01208.HK), CHINAHONGQIAO (01378.HK), CHALCO (02600.HK) and CMOC (03993.HK) cratered 5.6-7%, while JIANGXI COPPER (00358.HK) shrank 5.2%.
