The US government announced on Wednesday that it will initiate two new trade investigations into the excess industrial capacity of 16 major trade partners, including China. This may lead to new tariffs. In response, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun stated that China's stance on handling Sino-US economic and trade issues is consistent and clear, opposing all forms of unilateral tariff measures. Tariff wars and trade wars do not benefit either party, and both sides should negotiate to resolve related issues on the basis of equality, respect, and reciprocity.
