Goldman Sachs raised its 2Q26 average price forecast for Brent crude oil futures by US$10-US$76 per barrel, and for New York oil futures by US$9-US$71 per barrel. These projections assume that subdued oil flows through the Strait of Hormuz will lead to a significant decline in OECD inventories and Middle East oil production in March.

The relevant anticipations carry significant upside risks, as disruptions to exports through the Strait of Hormuz may persist longer than expected and oil production facilities could suffer damage, Goldman Sachs added. If the low oil flow from Hormuz remains unchanged for five weeks, Brent oil futures prices could reach US$100 per barrel.
