In February 2026, China's demand for AI tokens mushroomed, with usage spiking by 1.3 times, exceling the US for the first time, data from the AI model service platform OpenRouter showed. Among them, models from China's MINIMAX-WP (00100.HK) and Moonshot AI ranked at the top in token usage, ending the market dominance by US developers. The other models in the top five are the Gemini3 Flash Preview by US's Google DeepMind, V3.2 by China's DeepSeek, and Claude Sonnet4.5 by US's Anthropic. The Qwen AI model series under BABA-W (09988.HK) nearly doubled its share in the second half of last year, reaching 32.1%, becoming the most popular model among Chinese companies, followed by models from ByteDance and DeepSeek, report added.
