<H Shrs>HSI Opens 65 Pts Lower; CATL, CMOC Join Blue Chips w/ Higher Opening; Alibaba, Baidu Weak

US inflation for the previous month was below expectations, while core inflation met expectations. The US stock market saw the DJIA inch up by 0.1% last Friday (13th). The Hong Kong bourse is a half-day session today (16th), with the HSI opening 65 points or 0.2% lower at 26,501; the HSCEI opening 7 points or 0.1% lower at 9,025; and the HSTECH opening 10 points or 0.2% lower at 5,350. In the HSI quarterly review, CATL (03750.HK), CMOC (03993.HK), and LAOPU GOLD (06181.HK) were added to the HSI family, while ZHONGSHENG HLDG (00881.HK) was removed. CATL and CMOC opened 1.3% and 1.4% higher, respectively, while LAOPU GOLD opened 0.2% higher. BEKE-W (02423.HK) and HORIZONROBOT-W (09660.HK), which were added to the HSCEI, opened 0.1% and 0.3% higher, respectively. CHINA RES BEER (00291.HK) and MENGNIU DAIRY (02319.HK), which were removed from the HSCEI but retained their HSI constituent status, opened flat at HKD26.72 and 0.4% lower, respectively. SANDS CHINA LTD (01928.HK) logged a 0.7% decline in adjusted property EBITDA last year, with its stock opening 0.2% lower at HKD18.46. Its fellow GALAXY ENT (00027.HK) opened 1% lower. ANTA SPORTS (02020.HK) received written shareholder approval for acquiring approximately 29% stake of PUMA, with its stock opening 0.3% higher at HKD84.5. BABA-W (09988.HK) and BIDU-SW (09888.HK), which were included in the US Department of War’s “List of Chinese Military Companies”, opened 1.8% and 1.5% lower, respectively.
