BYD COMPANY (01211.HK) and GEELY AUTO (00175.HK) have been shortlisted as final candidates for the acquisition of a Nissan-Mercedes joint venture plant in Mexico, Reuters reported, citing informed sources.

Facing shutdown and layoffs due to US tariff policies, this plant has drawn interest from Chinese carmakers, who are seeking to position it as a production base in Mexico.

According to the sources, the final shortlist was selected from nine companies expressing acquisition interest. Chinese carmakers CHERY AUTO (09973.HK) and GWMOTOR (02333.HK) have also shown interest.
