The HSI opened 392 points or 1.5% lower at 26,640. The HSCEI dropped 112 points or 1.2% to 9,062. The HSTECH slipped 85 points or 1.6% to 5,323.

Among tech stocks, TENCENT (00700.HK) and KUAISHOU-W (01024.HK) opened down 1.9% and 2%. BABA-W (09988.HK) shed 2.9%. BIDU-SW (09888.HK) and BILIBILI-W (09626.HK) slid 3.6% and 3.7%. MEITUAN-W (03690.HK), JD-SW (09618.HK), and NTES-S (09999.HK) dipped 0.9-1.6%. TME-SW (01698.HK) tumbled 6.7%. Chip stocks SMIC (00981.HK) and HUA HONG SEMI (01347.HK) lost 1% and 1.1%.

In the automotive sector, XIAOMI-W (01810.HK) ebbed 0.6% along with the market trend at open, even though Xiaomi Auto announced that its cumulative deliveries had surpassed 600,000 units. BYD COMPANY (01211.HK) plunged 2.1% to HKD96.45.
