ANTA SPORTS (02020.HK) announced the acquisition of a 29.06% stake in Puma for EUR1.51 billion, funded entirely by the group's own funds without the need for financing, BOCOM International's research report recaptured. The broker viewed that this acquisition aligns closely with Anta's long-standing strategy of "single focus, multi-brand, and globalization".

Previously, the group had already established a presence in the high-end outdoor segment through Amer Sports, but it still lacked a strong position in the global mass professional sports market. Puma, as a leading global sports brand with marked appeal in football, running, motorsports, and fashion, fills this strategic gap.

From a financial perspective, the group has a solid financial foundation. As of mid-2025, the group holds net cash of RMB31.5 billion. However, Puma remains in a loss-making position for 1-3Q25, which may slightly weigh down on Anta's financial statements in the short term.
