Last year, new car registrations in the UK grew by 3.5% to 2.02 million units, the first time since the pandemic that the figure has surpassed the 2 million mark, according to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT). The SMMT attributed this growth to carmakers offering over GBP5 billion worth of discounts on electric vehicles.

In addition, Chinese car brands, including BYD COMPANY (01211.HK) and SAIC Motor, saw their market share rise to 9.7% in the UK last year as they managed to seize consumers with their price advantage.
