'AI Singapore' Program Shelves Meta's Model, Switches to BABA-W's Qwen Open-Source Architecture

AI Singapore (AISG), a national AI program of Singapore, has shelved the Meta (META.US) model in its latest Southeast Asian large language model (LLM) project, opting instead for BABA-W (09988.HK)'s Tongyi Qianwen (Qwen) open-source architecture, Chinese news broke.

Today (25th), AISG announced the launch of the "Qwen-SEA-LION-v4" model, which swiftly claimed the top spot on an open-source leaderboard measuring Southeast Asian language capabilities.

The previously used open-source models represented by Meta's Llama series executed dismally in handling regional languages such as Indonesian, Thai, and Malay, gravely restricting the development efficiency and performance of localized AI applications, report told.
