Reuters cited an investigation by US Congress members indicating that there are loopholes in the restrictions imposed by the US and its allies on China's production of advanced computing chips, with which China still managed to purchase nearly USD40 billion worth of sophisticated chipmaking equipment. The investigation is said to have revealed that inconsistencies in regulations issued by the US, Japan, and the Netherlands allow non-US manufacturers to sell Chinese companies products that US manufacturers cannot sell. The committee called on US allies to implement broader bans on the sale of chipmaking tools to China, not just targeting specific Chinese chipmakers. AAStocks Financial News |
