Ray Dalio, founder of the hedge fund Bridgewater Associates, said that, even if gold prices rise to a historical high of over US$4,000 per ounce, investors should still allocate 15% of their portfolio to gold, according to foreign media. He emphasized that gold is an excellent risk diversifier in the portfolio.

Holding cash and investing it in debt instruments is not an effective way to store wealth when there is such a supply of debt and debt instruments, Dalio added. During times of currency devaluation and geopolitical uncertainty, gold stands apart as a hedge.
