JD-SW Applies for 'JoyTaxi' Trademark in HK, Suspected Move into Robotaxi Mkt

Chinese media reported last month that JD-SW (09618.HK)'s JD 360 had filed multiple trademark applications for "Joyrobotaxi" with statuses all being "awaiting substantive examination. It is suspected that the company is planning to foray into the autonomous taxi sector. According to today's (13th) announcement from the Hong Kong Intellectual Property Department, the company also applied for a series of trademarks, "JoyTaxi", "JOYTAXI", and "joytaxi", in Hong Kong in May, with the status listed as "Notice of Application Published". Industry insiders, as indicated by earlier reports from Chinese media, widely believed that JD.com's application for the "Joyrobotaxi" trademark signaled its official entry into the autonomous taxi (Robotaxi) arena.
