MIIT: CN Shall Accelerate Auto Chip Standard Revision, Improve Safety Lv. of NEVs

China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) released the key points of auto standardization in 2025 and forward-looking layout of standards research in frontier areas, analyzing and assessing the development trend of cutting-edge technologies and potential application scenarios, and identifying and judging the direction of the future development of auto standardization, so as to promote the formulation and release of standard sub-systems of automotive AI, solid-state batteries and EV battery swapping, launch the construction of standard systems for new areas such as data governance & application and launch ahead of schedule the studies of standardization requirements for new industries such as flying car.

The key points said that it is necessary to accelerate the revision of the general specifications for the environment and reliability of auto chips, information security, consistency check and other standards, and improve the basic evaluation methods for auto chips.

The key points also proposed to improve the safety level of NEVs. The authorities should promote the release of standards for remote service and management of EVs and the implementation of safety requirement standards for power batteries, advance the examination and approval of EV safety requirements and other standards and initiate the advanced research of safety requirements and mandatory national standards for BEVs and power battery recycling, so as to continuously improve the safety level of EVs.
