Goldman Sachs has lowered its oil price forecast twice in the past week. The broker stated that Brent oil future prices may drop below US$40 per barrel in extreme situations, given escalating trade wars and rising supply.

If the global economy slows down and OPEC+ fully retracts production cuts, Goldman Sachs predicted that Brent oil future prices will dip below US$40 per barrel by the end of next year. Still, this is a more extreme and unlikely scenario.
