A spokesperson for China's Ministry of Commerce (MOC) stated that China had noted the US announcement on April 2, Eastern Time, to impose "reciprocal tariffs" on all trade partners. China firmly opposes this and will resolutely take countermeasures to safeguard its own interests.

History has already shown that hiking tariffs cannot solve the US' own problems, and it will not only harm US interests but also damage global economic development and supply chain stability, said the spokesperson.
