Outsourcing of Customer Service Center Services Raises Concerns; MTR CORPORATION Promises Not to Lay off Existing Staff

At a meeting of the Legislative Council (LegCo) Subcommittee on Matters Relating to Railways today (31st), some members expressed concern that MTR CORPORATION (00066.HK) is planning to outsource the customer service center services at Tung Chung Station, Disneyland Resort Station, Airport Express and East Rail Line, worrying that this may affect the quality of the services and damage the morale of the staff. Jeny Yeung, Managing Director of Hong Kong Transport Services at MTR CORPORATION, responded that the move was intended to solve the manpower issued. Existing staff had been promised that there would be no layoffs and that they would not be transferred away from existing stations.
