Zhang Guoqing, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice Premier of the State Council, recently visited several platform companies to investigate the healthy development of the platform economy and market regulation.

His visits included companies in food delivery, online retail, live-streaming e-commerce, and transportation services, where he gained detailed insights into their business models, technological innovations, and compliance practices.

Zhang emphasized that the platform economy enhances the efficiency of resource allocation across society and fosters the development of new quality productive forces. Platform companies, as key carriers of the platform economy, have strong social attributes and spillover effects.

He said they should play a leading role in promoting innovation, expanding consumption, and stabilizing employment. He stressed the need to resolutely address issues such as low-quality low-price "involution-style" competition, unreasonable delivery time limits, and excessive commission fees.

On top of that, he called for accelerating improvements to laws and regulations concerning platform rules, algorithms, fees, and live-streaming e-commerce to ensure fair and transparent rules, ethical algorithms, reasonable and clear fees, and a standardized and orderly live-streaming e-commerce sector.
