XIAOMI-W (01810.HK) President Lu Weibing stated during an earnings conference call that Xiaomi will allocate one-quarter of its total R&D budget to AI development, according to Chinese media reports. Based on the company’s projected R&D expenditure of RMB30 billion for 2025, this translates to approximately RMB7.5 billion.

In the long run, AI, operating systems (OS), and chips are designated as Xiaomi’s core technologies. The company is vigorously pushing ahead AI technology integration across its terminal products and plans to use AI to restructure the underlying framework of its HyperOS, aiming to evolve into an AIOS within 2-3 years to comprehensively enhance user experience.
