The company is also developing a series of AI-native applications, potentially launching this year. The report cited internal sources that the next killer app, built on mature AI technology and possibly even more popular than Douyin, could emerge soon. Alibaba has purportedly instructed all departments to evaluate this year’s working performance based on how AI is leveraged to drive growth. Core e-commerce units, including Taobao and Tmall, are being encouraged to adopt more AI technologies.
