China's State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) will adhere to a problem-oriented approach this year, fully leveraging the "sharp sword" role of supervisory inspections, according to a CCTV report. The agency has rolled out the 2025 National Product Quality Supervision and Inspection Plan.

The Plan specifies that for key products such as gas appliances and electric bicycles - items that pose potential quality and safety risks, attract strong public attention, and are closely tied to the safety of people’s lives and property - the SAMR will considerably beef up the inspections. It will comprehensively intensify the scrutiny of online-sold products, including those marketed through live-streaming platforms.

For issues identified during inspections, the authorities will strictly investigate and penalize violations in accordance with the law, forming a closed-loop regulatory system to safeguard the bottom line of product quality and safety.
