China is accelerating the implementation of fertility support policies, according to the Securities Times. In response to the “policy of disbursing childcare subsidy”, relevant Shenzhen authorities stated that the National Health Commission is at the moment collaborating with other departments to develop a childcare subsidy plan. Shenzhen will actively and prudently implement these measures in line with national directives. The city reportedly plans to enhance its fertility support policy framework and incentive mechanisms, expand affordable childcare services, and expedite the creation of a fertility-friendly society and child-friendly city. At the national level, this year’s government work report emphasized the formulation of pro-fertility policies, including disbursement of childcare subsidies, the development of integrated childcare and preschool services, and an increase in affordable childcare supply. At the local level, some regions introduced unexpectedly generous measures. Hohhot recently released detailed implementation rules for its childcare subsidy program, offering eligible families a one-time payment of RMB10,000 for a first child, RMB50,000 for a second child, and RMB100,000 for a third child or more.
