Luo Wen, head of China's State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR), said at the first “Ministers' Corridor” of the third session of the 14th National People's Congress (NPC) that efforts will be made to optimize supervision methods this year, with great efforts to promote the healthy development of the platform economy. In terms of platform fees, platforms will be urged to simplify and publicize charge items, optimizing pricing mechanisms, protecting merchants' right to know and helping merchants reduce costs and enhance efficiency. At the same time, the Compliance Guidance for Online Trading Platform Charging Behavior will be formulated and launched to provide clear guidelines for platform enterprises to reasonably charge fees. Regarding live e-commerce, the authority will strengthen the project sampling of product quality, crack down on behaviors like deceptive advertising and false propaganda and continuously improve the quality of products sold online. Meanwhile, the authority will develop and launch the “live e-commerce supervision methods”, establish a long-term mechanism for supervision, so as to effectively regulate the behavior of live trading.
