The US government announced an additional 10% tariff on all Chinese goods exported to the US on fentanyl, according to the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China (MOFCOM)'s announcement.

The US' unilateral tariff hike measure undermines the multilateral trading system, increases the burden on American firms and consumers and damages the foundation of economic and trade cooperation between China and the US.

In accordance with laws and regulations such as the Tariff Law of the People's Republic of China, the Customs Law of the People's Republic of China and the Foreign Trade Law of the People's Republic of China, as well as the basic principles of international law, with the approval of the State Council, starting from 10 March 2025, additional tariffs will be imposed on certain imported goods originating from the US. This includes a 15% tariff hike on chicken, wheat, corn and cotton, and a 10% tariff hike on sorghum, soybeans, pork, beef, aquatic products, fruits, vegetables and dairy products, etc..
