Didi Global is seeking new capital for its autonomous driving division, with potential fundraising reaching hundreds of millions of US dollars, according to sources cited by Bloomberg. The unit could be valued at approximately US$5 billion.

Didi’s self-driving unit is currently negotiating with prospective investors, including a Beijing-based fund. The funds raised are expected to support the continued development of autonomous driving technology and accelerate the mass production of self-driving vehicles.

In its Series C funding round last October, Didi’s self-driving unit secured US$298 million from investors, including GAC GROUP (02238.HK). Other backers of the division include SoftBank Vision Fund, IDG Capital, and CCBI, among others.
