MO Latest General Unemployment Rate Inches Down 0.1 ppt; Employment in Gaming Industry Increases

The Macau Statistics and Census Service announced that the general unemployment rate from November 2024 to January 2025 reached 1.6%, while the unemployment rate for local residents was 2.1%, down by 0.1 and 0.2 ppts respectively compared to the previous period (October to December 2024), mainly due to the Chinese New Year factor that led to a reduction in the number of job seekers, resulting in a decline in the number of unemployed. The general underemployment rate also fell by 0.2 ppts to 1.3%.
