HK Govt Has Clear Direction for AI Development, Launching 1st Local Foundation Model 'HKGAI V1'

Led by the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and with participation from four local universities and overseas research institutions, the InnoHK Hong Kong Generative AI R&D Center has launched Hong Kong's first AI foundation model "HKGAI V1". The system can answer users' questions in real time, including inquiries about government department structures and the latest movie box office figures. Capable of recognizing Cantonese, Mandarin, and English, it can also generate responses in different languages simultaneously. Sun Dong, Hong Kong's Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry, said in his speech that the government has a clear direction for AI development with strong measures and decisive actions.
