To implement the revised agreement approved by China's State Council to lift the restriction on Hong Kong and Macau banks' mainland branches from running the bank card business, the National Financial Regulatory Administration recently issued the "Notice on Matters Related to Hong Kong and Macau Banks' Mainland Branches Launching Bank Card Business", which will be effective from March 1. The notice specifies that Hong Kong and Macau banks' mainland branches are allowed to run the foreign currency bank card business, as well as the RMB bank card business for customers other than Chinese citizens.
