South Korea's Personal Information Protection Commission confirmed that DeepSeek, a Chinese AI platform, will transfer user data to Chinese company ByteDance, but it is not yet known what and how much data has been transferred. According to local laws, companies must obtain user consent before transferring data to third parties. The South Korean authorities temporarily banned the download of the DeepSeek app from last Saturday and advised people who had already downloaded it to use it with caution and avoid providing sensitive personal data and information.
