Zhao Haijun, Co-Chief Executive Officer of SMIC (00981.HK), said at the results conference that overall customer product inventory is relatively healthy.

Based on extensive communications with industrial chain partners, it is generally believed that demand for all application areas in the market will record flat or moderate growth this year, except for AI, which will continue its rapid growth.

Driven by the benefits from China's consumption stimulus policy, customers are more willing to replenish inventories, while there are more urgent supplemental orders for consumer electronics, connectivity, handsets and others, making 1Q25 to buck the downtrend, Zhao added.

The external environment brought a certain degree of uncertainty in 2H25, with intensifying industry competition.
