The large language model (LLM) launched by China's DeepSeek is subverting the market's expectations of the cost of AI, turning the arms race in which companies originally had to spend billions to buy NVIDIA (NVDA.US)'s high-end chips into a more even competition, which will lead to the rapid integration of powerful and cheap AI models by Chinese internet companies, S&P Global Ratings said.

The DeepSeek model has been widely adopted by a number of platforms, including Alibaba Cloud, Huawei Cloud, Microsoft (MSFT.US)'s Azure and Amazon.com (AMZN.US)'s AWS, indicating that the industry has adapted quickly to DeepSeek's development.

This event reflects that leading LLMs can utilize China's existing AI infrastructure for development, and believed that the business risk in China's technology industry is tending towards positive, S&P added.
