Following the decision of South Korea's Ministry of National Defense, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy to restrict computers from accessing the platform of Chinese AI company DeepSeek, South Korea's Ministry of Unification, Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, Ministry of Health and Welfare and Ministry of Environment have also launch the ban or will launch it soon, Yonhap News Agency, citing people with the knowledge of the matter, reported. The Ministry of Economy and Finance is now considering related matters. The person in charge of the Ministry of Economy and Finance disclosed that a number of parties have raised the technical risks of DeepSeek, and the Ministry is weighing to restrict computers with access to the external network from accessing the DeepSeek platform. As a matter of fact, the government-run financial enterprises, the Export-Import Bank of Korea and the Housing Finance Corporation, have already banned access to DeepSeek since 31 January and 4 February respectively, while KB Kookmin Bank, Asiana, and Woori Bank have also taken measures to restrict access to the DeepSeek platform.
