TENCENT (00700.HK)'s WeChat released data for the 2025 Chinese New Year, which highlighted the continued active spending of Hong Kong people in mainland China. WeChat Pay HK users showed robust growth in spending, with the number of transactions made in mainland China during the Chinese New Year period (January 28 to February 2) soaring by around 90% compared to the same period last year. Among them, transactions in services such as dining, retail, and bill payments made in mainland China more than doubled, while transactions by mainland individual small merchants also logged a particularly notable rise.
