The boards of directors of Nissan and Honda will hold separate meetings to discuss whether to terminate the merger talks, as Honda believes that the merger may not fulfill its expectations of becoming a larger automaker, Asahi Shimbun reported. Earlier, it was rumored that Honda had proposed to acquire Nissan and incorporate it as a subsidiary, but Nissan strongly objected. A Nissan spokesman said talks between the two companies are still underway and that an announcement will be made in mid-February when the direction is nailed. An Honda spokesman also said the company plans to make an announcement by mid-February. AAStocks Financial News |
