<US>US Stocks Rally Despite CN Tariff Retaliation; Nasdaq Closes Up 262 Pts; Palantir Soars 24% on Solid Results

In response to US tariffs, China has decided to impose tariffs of up to 15% on coal and liquefied natural gas and 10% on crude oil imported from the US starting February 10. Yet, US stocks still managed to rally across the board on Tuesday.

The DJIA rose 134 points or 0.3% to close at 44,556. Benefiting from the strong results of AI stock Palantir (PLTR.US), the Nasdaq led the three major stock indices, closing up 262 points or 1.4% at 19,654. The S&P 500 closed 43 points or 0.7% higher at 6,037.

With its 4Q results beating analysts' expectations and strong guidance, Palantir soared 24% for the day and set a record high of US$106.9.

Nvidia (NVDA.US) leaped nearly 2%. Major tech stocks were on the rise, with Tesla (TSLA.US), Alphabet (GOOG.US), Apple (AAPL.US), and Amazon (AMZN.US) swelling about 2%.
