China's Ministry of Commerce and the General Administration of Customs jointly announced at noon that export controls on tungsten, tellurium, bismuth, molybdenum and indium-related items will be implemented with immediate effect.

CHINA RAREEARTH (00769.HK) opened flat this morning (4th) and saw little movement in the early trade. After midday, it was galvanized by the news of rare earth export controls and once shot up 18.4%, peaking at $0.45 before the increase narrowed. The latest print was $0.415, up 9.21%, with 11.388 million shares traded, involving $4.6599 million.
