The total retail sales of social consumer goods rose by 3.5% YoY to RMB48.8 trillion in 2024, Sheng Qiuping, China's Vice Minister of Commerce, said. Of which, the effect of the trade-in policies was remarkable, with more than 6.8 million cars, over 62.76 million units of the 8 major types of home appliances, about 60 million pieces of subsidized products for home, kitchen and decoration and over 1.38 million units of electric bikes traded-in, which collectively boosted the sales of related products by over RMB1.3 trillion, and raised the growth of retail sales of social consumer goods by 1 ppt for the whole year.
