CN NHSA To Kick Start 11th Batch of Centralized Volume Procurement of Drugs This Yr

China’s National Healthcare Security Administration (NHSA), at a press conference, said that the NHSA will continue to promote centralized volume procurement of drugs and medical consumables in 2025. It will launch the 11th batch of centralized procurement of drugs in 1H25 and the 6th batch of centralized procurement of high-value medical consumables in 2H25, while launching new batches of centralized procurement in a timely manner. The person in charge of the NHSA said that the national organization of drug procurement has saved about RMB440 billion in aggregate since 2018, among which more than RMB360 billion has been spent on negotiated drugs, which means that 80% of the savings from the procurement of “old drugs” have been used in innovative drugs. The centralized procurement fully plays the role of reducing burdens, freeing up space and promoting momentum conversion for reform, which conforms with the direction of promoting the development of new quality productivity., the person in charge added.
