The Hong Kong Police arrested a company executive on Thursday (16th) on suspicion of “using a false instrument” and “making false report of commission of offence”. The arrestee, Edwin Wong, CEO of Winman Advertising and Entertainment Group, is suspected to have forged an email from Kai Tak Sports Park and made a false report that he was blackmailed by a reporter for $10 million when he claimed that he was planning to arrange for a performance by FC Barcelona, a Spanish LaLiga soccer team, at Kai Tak Sports Park in Hong Kong. It is learnt that Winman Advertising and Entertainment Group earlier claimed that it had planned to arrange for FC Barcelona to hold an exhibition match at Kai Tak Sports Park in July 2025, but Kai Tak Sports Park refused its application. The company also disclosed a screenshot of an e-mail purporting to be an apology from Kai Tak Sports Park stating that it was unable to send in the application form for the venue due to a technical problem.
