TENCENT Verifying Suspicion of WeChat Pay Users Being Charged for Face Scan Payment in Different Location'

TENCENT (00700.HK) (TCEHY.US)'s WeChat Pay has been found to have a vulnerability, according to Hong Kong China News Agency, with a user recently being charged for a successful “face scan payment from a different location”.

TENCENT responded that it has compensated the user concerned, and is verifying the situation.

A Guizhou consumer recently received a notification on WeChat that “the face scan payment feature was opened successfully” and “WeChat payment was successful”, and found that a stranger had successfully paid RMB106.64 through his/her WeChat account in Bozhou, Anhui Province, according to Beijing Business Today.

The merchant who received the payment told another Chinese media that this was the case, and that the consumer successfully completed the face scan payment, and also entered the last four digits of his/ her cell phone.
