Hang Seng Investment: Demand for Asian Bonds Expected to Remain Strong This Yr

Inflows into the bond market amounted to about US$613 billion as of 18 December 2024, 1.15x more than that in 2023, Rosita Lee, Director and CEO of Hang Seng Investment Management, said.

Lee explained that global bonds offered investors good gain opportunities in the midst of the US interest rate cut cycle, while the Asian bond market was particularly strong, outperforming the global bond market. She anticipated that investor demand for Asian bonds would remain strong this year, and that its fundamentals would remain sound.

The capital inflow of the stock market should not be overlooked, as the capital inflow of the stock market as of 18 December 2024 amounted to approx. US$739 billion, 3.62x ahead of the whole 2023, Lee added. The above performance reflects investors' interest in equity assets, which provides certain support to the market's optimism.
