Thai Cabinet Approves Bill Legalizing Gambling & Casinos; Tourism Rev. May Hike At Least THB120B

The Thai cabinet has approved a bill to legalize local gambling and casinos, with the aim of boosting tourism, employment and investment in Thailand, Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra said on Monday (13th), as quoted by Reuters.

The bill will be submitted to the Thai parliament and, if greenlighted, will allow gambling in large entertainment centers.

Deputy Finance Minister Julapun Amornvivat estimated that the legalization of gambling and casinos will raise the number of foreign tourists visiting the country by 5-10%, increase tourism revenues by about THB120-220 billion , and create about 9,000-15,000 jobs.
