Chinese handset maker, Honor, said that it plans to launch smartphones in Indonesia at the end of March, according to CNBC. The Company has an office in Indonesia, and has partnered with a local manufacturer. Indonesia requires that 40% of the components in smartphones sold in the country come from local sources. The rule has prevented Apple (AAPL.US) from selling its latest phones there. Chinese brands Oppo, XIAOMI-W (01810.HK) and Transsion held the top 3 spots in Indonesia's smartphone sales in 11M24, while South Korea's Samsung Electronics ranked fourth with a 16% market share, tied with another Chinese brand, Vivo, in accordance with Canalys.
