HSBC To Resume Foreign Currency Excess Withdrawal Fee from Feb

HSBC updated its fees for Wealth and Personal Banking business services, including the resumption of foreign currency cash withdrawal fees for excess withdrawals.

HSBC informed customers that a fee of 0.25% of the total daily foreign currency cash withdrawal amount will be levied if the total amount of foreign currency cash withdrawals made from a personal integrated account or an individual customer exceeds EUR1,500, USD1,500 or JPY200,000 in a single day. Accounts ofs Premier or Global Private Banking will be given higher daily withdrawal limits.

Besides, starting from February 23, a fee of $70 per transaction will be levied on remittances made in local currency to designated destinations from personal integrated accounts or personal customers via online banking and mobile banking; the fee for telegraphic transfer services through HSBC branches will be raised to $260 per transaction, and the fee for inter-branch transfers will be lifted to $260 starting from February 1.

A spokesperson from HSBC told the local media that the services and charges will be reviewed regularly and adjusted appropriately when needed. Customers can continue to use HSBC Hong Kong's Foreign Currency ATMs to withdraw foreign currencies free of charge, subject to a maximum of 40 banknotes per withdrawal and a daily withdrawal limit of the equivalent of HKD80,000 in foreign currencies.
