Alphabet (GOOGL.US)'s YouTube and Elon Musk's X have not yet applied for a social media operating license under Malaysia's new regulations that came into effect yesterday (1st), according to data from Malaysia's internet regulatory body.

The new regulations require major tech companies to be accountable for illegal content. TikTok and TENCENT (00700.HK)'s WeChat have already obtained licenses. Telegram has also applied, while Meta (META.US) has initiated the license application process.
