MEITUAN-W To Remove Penalty on Riders for Delivery Overrun Gradually by End-2025

In response to the recent launch of the “Rectification of Typical Problems of Algorithms on Network Platforms” campaign by the Chinese government, MEITUAN-W (03690.HK) said that it intends to take eight enhancement measures, including promoting the normalization of algorithm disclosure, establishing a more open and diversified algorithmic communication mechanism, further perfecting the fatigue prevention mechanism of the riders, improving the incentive mechanism of the riders, increasing the investment in research and development, and further improving the work experience of riders, as well as actively solving the pain points and conflicts encountered by riders, merchants and users.

MEITUAN-W announced that it will take the interests of riders as its core, explore a fairer and more humane incentive mechanism, introduce training, a points system and other alternatives, gradually abolish penalty on riders for delivery overrun by the end of 2025, and promote the shift from negative penalties to positive incentives. It will also urge partners at all levels to regulate business practices, improve rider communication and complaint mechanisms, and enhance training and transparent management.

In addition, MEITUAN-W will set up a special area for algorithm disclosure to raise the transparency of the algorithm, promote the algorithm to be fairer and more humanized, and establish a more open and diversified algorithmic communication mechanism. It will also hold quarterly algorithmic conferences, inviting riders, merchants, users, experts and scholars to participate.
