ASML: CN Chipmaking Capabilities Lag Behind Competitors by 10-15 Yrs

Despite certain progress made by China in the chip sector, Chinese companies are still 10-15 years behind in chipmaking capabilities compared to Intel (INTC.US), TSMC (TSM.US), and Samsung, said ASML (ASML.US) CEO Christophe Fouquet.

While SMIC (00981.HK) possesses advanced DUV lithography machines, Fouquet noted that it cannot compete with TSMC's process technology in terms of cost-effectiveness as Chinese companies cannot access more advanced EUV lithography tools.
