Honda and Nissan formally launched talks on a potential merger today (23rd). Following the meeting, the two companies announced plans to form a joint holding company in August 2026, in the hope of promoting electrification development as well as software integration, so as to remain competitive in the global market. The two companies have entered into a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on the establishment of a joint holding company, with the aim to conclude negotiations and sign the agreement by June 2025, while Mitsubishi Motors will decide by the end of January 2025 whether to join the merger.
